The Equality Wheel is a straightforward tool created as part of the Duluth Model to show what a healthy and respectful relationship looks like. It highlights the key behaviors and values needed for equality in relationships, such as trust, fairness, shared decision-making, and honesty. This wheel is often used to educate about healthy relationship dynamics and to help individuals understand how to avoid patterns of domestic abuse and domestic violence.
Unlike the Power and Control Wheel, which focuses on abusive behaviors, the Equality Wheel provides a positive example of what safe, nonviolent, and respectful relationships should include. It’s easy to understand and helps people recognize the difference between harmful and healthy interactions.
This resource is perfect for social workers, counselors, educators, and anyone who works with individuals or families affected by unhealthy relationships or domestic violence.
